Over the next few days, Campus in the City will be hosting an event called ‘Creativity and Connectivity’, which aims to find out if painting can help beat social isolation for older people. Professor Emma Rose from the Lancaster Institute for Contemporary Arts (LICA) and her PhD students will be hosting a painting workshop for older people from across Lancashire and asking them to paint a picture of a place that means something to them.
Following the workshop, the paintings will be on display in Campus in the City alongside work by three local landscape artists (see pictures) and then the workshop participants will be sent their picture to display at home.
What a great idea, I’m sure there must be lots of older people who would love to take part in this study.

Hi! The workshop took place yesterday with 23 people, who all produced really lovely pictures of places that were special to them. The stories that went with them were great too! I’ll be posting the pictures on Monday, hopefully… Lindsey from CITC
